The Youth Council was created to provide young people in foster care and former foster youth with a platform to have a voice – and an opportunity to socialize, share experiences, get resources, and help improve the foster care system for the next generation of foster youth. The Youth Council helps engage and connect youth so that meaningful, healthy relationships can be formed. As Youth Council members, they are encouraged and empowered to take an active role in their lives and their communities, understanding that the cycle of child abuse can end with them and that they are responsible for their own destinies. They also receive tools, resources, and connections needed to successfully navigate through the foster care system and transition to adulthood.
